(Type N Reference) : 0087 TLA92 SEIRAFIAN DESCRIPTION OF DESIGN & HISTORY : The high quality of design and craftsmanship is attested to by the inscribed pile cartouche in the lower kilim web, indicating that the carpet was made by the renown master weaver, Seirafian. A complex red medallion of superimposed eight and sixteen point ornaments is a far more coherent in construction than most of the Isfahan medallions; its graphic clarity ensures a focal role against the sky blue field in which a spiral stem in ivory binds together in an ornate yet excellently spaces floral and foliate design.This impressive city carpet signed by the master weaver Seirafian would make a proud addition to any Persian carpet collection.
